Rapid Intake Announces ProForm 3: a New Release and a New Name for Flashform Rapid eLearning Studio
(PRWEB) August 5, 2008 -- ProForm, like its predecessor Flashform, is a single-user desktop solution that enables designers of all ability levels to create Flash-based, interactive courses. Novice users and subject matter experts (SMEs) simply fill out form-based templates to create interactive Flash-based courses, while advanced users create reusable custom templates by accessing the Flash source code (.fla). All output is SCORM compliant, rich media compatible, and works on most PC and Mac browsers.
"The reasons for this name change are pretty straight forward," said Garin Hess, CEO. "Adobe felt that the name Flashform impinged on its trademark rights because it contains the word Flash as part of the product. So, rather than have a prolonged legal fight against one of the largest software companies in the world, we opted to change the name to ProForm."
Flashform's popularity has resulted from making it easy to produce interactive Flash-based learning content driven by XML by filling out simple forms. Providing access to the Flash source files (.FLA) for advanced users to customize and extend its capabilities makes it attractive to organizations that want fast but highly custom content. While the name change is not changing the core functionality, the ProForm 3 release is a significant version upgrade to its predecessor.
"ProForm 3 is the same software as Flashform--with lots of great new functionality," says Steven Hancock, President and head of internal development. "We've added many features that our customers have been asking for. We have a great relationship with our user community."
Some of the additional features in ProForm 3 include:
- New interactive reusable page templates, including Step by Step Interaction, Terms and Definitions Interaction, Image Rollover Interaction, and a straight Flash Video (FLV) template
- The ability to print a completion certificate at the end of the course
- Four new quiz question types, including the ability to have an image as part of the multiple choice question
- Response-specific feedback for multiple choice questions
- Print and email functionality added to the quiz
- Four new course user interfaces
A bundled screen recorder that instantly changes anything you record into a Flash movie has also received some additional new features, including the ability to edit screen recordings, add transitions and titles, and republish to Flash. Rapid Intake users use the screen recorder to convert PowerPoint presentations to Flash and make software tutorials.
